This genuine Antique Edwardian Suffragette lapel clip is set in base metal, Circa 1910.
Decorated with lovely pink green and white sparkling Paste stones all round.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine. Their jewellery was chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking!
Give Women Votes - Green is for give, white is for women and violet is for votes.
Paste is a heavy, very transparent flint glass that stimulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones because it has relatively high indices of refraction and strong dispersion, the Romans in particular were very skilful in the production of coloured glass pastes.
This clip is steeped in history, it looks fabulous when worn on a lapel.
